The Laramie Project, a true story, chronicles life in the town of Laramie, Wyoming, the year after the brutal murder of University of Wyoming gay student Matthew Shepard. The Laramie Project is one of the most performed plays in America today. Remember to get your tickets for The Laramie Project, the MHS Theatre production. There will be four shows: Nov. 21, 22, and 23 (all at 7 p.m.), and 24 (at 2 p.m.).
“On October 6, 1998, Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, beaten, and tied to a fence on the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming. The perpetrators have openly stated that they victimized Shepard because he was gay. After slipping into a coma and spending six days in Poudre Valley Hospital, Matthew Shepard died.
This is not the story of Matthew Shepard.
This is the story of a society, a community, the town of Laramie, Wyoming.
This is the story of a community facing the aftermath of a brutal hate crime.
This is the story of differing opinions, emotions, and world views.
This is a story of what it means to be a citizen of Laramie, Wyoming.
Come see THE LARAMIE PROJECT at Malibu High School. November 21, 22, 23 at 7:00 p.m. November 24 at 2:00 p.m.
This is the one to see.
This is bigger than us.
This is for all those who have been victims of hatred, violence, and everything that comes in between.
This is for Matthew.”
